Mission 028 - Springfield CoE Campground | UPSTATE SC RV CAMPING | Anderson, SC

Is it possible to get a great campsite at the last minute? YES! A scheduling boo-boo caused us to lose a site we had booked elsewhere, but we lucked into finding an open spot at Springfield Corps of Engineers Campground for the weekend. Booked on a Monday, and camping there the following Friday! Springfield sits on the shores of Lake Hartwell near Anderson, SC, and is a great spot for boaters, skiers and fisher-people… none of which we did! So what DID we do? Well, watch the video!

Mission 019 - Hot, HOT Camping at Elijah Clark State Park

Hot in the Summer! ☀️ Elijah Clark State Park on the Georgia side of Lake Thurmond (thankfully) offers campsites open to larger areas of the lake, allowing the lake breezes to provide a little relief from the sweltering July weather. Of course, jumping INTO the lake also helps beat the heat! Come along on our long weekend trip to this lovely park, where we see a little bit of Revolutionary War history and learn some more about the fantastic camping opportunities here in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA).

Mission 017 - Baker Creek State Park | RV CAMPING | Lake Strom Thurmond

Thanks to the COVID-19 scare ruining our (and most everybody's) longer-distance travels this spring, it seems our camping "theme" of 2020 is turning into a tour of they myriad parks and campgrounds in a fifty-mile radius of our house!  In this video, we visit Baker Creek State Park, another of the many RV camping spots up and down the Savannah River. Come along and see what we discovered at this quiet little boating and biking haven on the South Carolina side of Lake Thurmond... not that we had the chance to do either of those things this particular weekend...

The "Falcon" Gets it's First Bath! (and other mundane chores...)

"If you wanna have the fun, you've gotta put in the work!" So said a Wise Old Man, once upon a time, and it's very, very true when it comes to RV ownership. In this video, we run up to "Docking Bay 94" to give the Aluminum Falcon his first real bath, specifically cleaning and treating the roof, along with some other little fix-it projects. Oh, and we finally fly that darn drone a little, too...

Happy Friday, Happy Campers, and an early "Merry Christmas" to all of you! We're in preparation for our post-Christmas expedition to Asheville, NC, but we have a little something to hold your interest until we get back with stories and pictures! Our newest video over on the YouTube channel is a little bit of something we put together with footage we shot while trying out our new drone last month. We had fun figuring out the first steps of getting into aerial photography... but did we crash it?

"Live 'n' Learn RV" Takes Flight!!!

Hey, there, Happy Campers!

I couldn't stand it any longer!  We've only been on two camping adventures so far and have had lots of fun taking photos and video, but I've already felt that I'm leaving behind some beautiful images by not having one of those fancy-schmancy drones so many YouTubers have and use so wonderfully.  Well, the internet is good for lots of things, among the best being finding "deals," and Lo and Behold, a little bit of Google-Fu leads me to a sale of the previous generation Mavic Pro done!  Since there's a new model of the Mavic Pro currently on the market, the previous generation is no longer in production, and retailers are clearing out their stock.  One mouse-click and credit-card transaction later, BOOM!, we have a drone!

I suppose this post qualifies as a "tease," since I'm not going to add any "WOW" photos taken from 400 feet in the air just yet, but we did make a short video of our first flight.  Keep your eyes open for that over on the YouTube channel, probably available sometime in December after we get back from our Thanksgiving trip to Santee State Park... which is tomorrow!
