A New Year, and Things are Better ALREADY!!!

Happy New Year, fellow Campers!  Jessie here to remind you (as if you didn't already know) that 2020 is OVER... Thank GOD!!!  Yes, yes, it's true that all of our collective woes won't magically vanish now that the calendar has flipped, but our hopes must have a starting point, and a New Year is as good a time as any to make the resolution to work on having a better year (gee, maybe that "resolution" thing could become an annual tradition... or something...).

In our own little world, things are looking up!  Amongst our many blessings, the two things that stand out the most are 1) my recent surgery went very well, and I'm recovering even quicker than expected, and 2) Smokey has found a new full-time job!  While these two wonderful events will have lots of positive effects on our lives, the thing all of you care about the most is that we can making camping plans again! Woo-Hoo!!  Here's what we have on the agenda so far:

We'll be headed for Hamilton Branch State Park for the weekend of Valentine's Day next month.  We hear nice things about the park from others here in our area that camp there, and it's nearby, so it'll be a good choice for "dipping our toes" back into camping after the winter layoff.

In mid-March, we'll FINALLY venture back out into the world outside the Central Savannah River Area, over to Chester State Park.  Chester is one of South Carolina's original sixteen state parks, and is popular with fishermen and disc-golfers... which makes one wonder what we'll do there, since we're neither of those things... Oh, who are we kidding!?  It's camping, so it'll still be great!

The last thing we have confirmed for the new year will be a long journey... for us, at least!  The first of April will find us dragging the Aluminum Falcon all the way to Desoto State Park over in Forth Payne, Alabama!  Smokey's new employer closes down for the Masters golf tournament every April, and I'm on Spring Break that same time each year, so off we'll go on a week-long adventure!

That's all so far, but of course, we hope we'll be adding more destinations to our agenda as the year progresses!  Stay tuned!  Oh, how 'bout all of you?  Tell us what's on YOUR agenda for the new year!  Maybe you'll make us jealous!

    1. Jessie had a complete hysterectomy a couple weeks ago. She'll probably be at "reduced speed" for a few more weeks, but she's doing great, healing up nicely.

  5. So glad about your goid news. I liked Chester very much. Our sites had shared water pole. Nice park good kayaking. Bathhouses are heated and AC. I camped there with friends in 2018 because I did a tandem sky dive in area. Fantastic experience you should think about. Great adventure activity. I could have stayed up there all day and view. SKY DIVE COLUMBIA. One if top 10 in country. I paid for video Grapher. Enjoy. Can't wait for your post.

  7. Hello,. I'm Charles Bane my wife (Wanda) and I live in Springfield Mo. We purchased our Rockwood 2021 2204s ("Roxy") November 27 2020. It has been winterized since then. Very cold here plus all the campgrounds are closed for the winter. We live within an hour of 5 major lakes, plus Branson area. We own a boat, but this is our first camper. So we will mostly plan boating adventures, but we are going to add some travel out of our area trip's without the boat too. We found your channel and love it, have been watching (in order) your adventures. We enjoy you showing the travel there and back. The campsite, setup and in and out of your camper to show how life is at the parks. Also all the reviews and thoughts of the area and the thing's to do. Our first planned trip is the week of April 26. It will be to Hawker point (smokey don't laugh..that's the name) on Stockton lake. We will post some pictures on your page when we get there and y'all can laugh at us for a change. Thank you for all your information and fun. It keeps us motivated to get out there and go !! Good luck! and stay safe!

    1. Hey, Charles (and Wanda)! Sorry for the delay in getting back to you - the new job is swamping me! Thanks so much for finding us and watching our videos. We've seen some other YouTubers' stuff on all Missouri has to offer, and it's certainly on the list of five thousand places we'd love to check out someday! By all means, please share info and pics about getting "Roxy" out into the world. We probably won't get to do much more than a couple of weekends here and there before the summer, so we have to live vicariously through folks like you!
